Independent Trainer, Coach, Consultant and Counsellor, founder of the German Empowerment Institute; Logotherapist and Existential-Analytic Counsellor (GLE‑D); since the 1990s, has worked in the areas of Strategic Public Relations, Strategy Consulting and Organizational Development for (among others) associations, political parties, unions, ministries, administrative entities; international training- and consulting activities (UNAIDS, FES, IMOE, NDI) for political academies in African, Central- and Eastern European, and Scandinavian countries; author / co-author and publisher of works including among others the series “Communal Academy Texts” (»Texte der KommunalAkademie«, Friedrich Ebert Foundation) and “Edition: Society and Responsibility” (»Edition Gesellschaft und Verantwortung«).

A native of Osnabrück (born 1971), Märtin has worked since the early 1990s as Consultant, Executive Coach, Moderator, Author and Publisher. He established his initial field of activity in the areas of Strategic Public Relations, Strategy Consulting and Organizational Development; in recent years he has strengthened his focus on values- and meaning-oriented coachings and trainings, most often for management personnel and leadership teams.
René Märtin was, for three years, responsible for the public relations work of the Scripture Union and its BLB publishing house, and was during this time editor of the youth magazine “Geradeaus” (“Straight Ahead”, today known as “pur”). For several years he worked in advertising agencies as a project director for major companies and organisations.
Since the mid-1990s he has, together with Wolfgang Gisevius, developed the Communal Academy (KommunalAkademie) of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
His advanced training programmes, coachings and trainings since the mid-1990s have been designed for professional- and volunteer employees of churches, municipalities, from the welfare sector, political parties, trade unions, museums, ministries, public authorities, administrative entities, universities, schools, from the German Bundestag (Parliament), regional- and state legislative bodies, from foundations and from well-known and much smaller associations and societies. He cooperates in a network with other colleagues.
In 2000 he founded klarsyn communications with an emphasis on PR- and strategy consultation as well as organizational development for associations, political entities, communities, churches and the cultural sphere. He is a member of various networks and organisations.
In 2002 he founded the network “visioneers empowerment & excellence” with a focus on consulting and counselling, coaching, and training.
In 2012 he founded the German Empowerment Institute Osnabrück-Berlin with emphases on executive coaching, training and supervision. The Institute has two Coaching Centres in its headquarters in Osnabrück and Berlin.
René Märtin is internationally active. A variety of assignments (UNAIDS, FES, IMOE, NDI) have taken him to, among others, Denmark, Kenya, Kosovo, Poland, Romania, Zimbabwe, Sweden and the Czech Republic. Since 2013 he has directed, as Lead Trainer and Supervisor, the Youth Political Academy in Tripolis, Libya. The YPA is a project of the internationally active National Democratic Institute, the Chairperson of which is the former US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright.
As a publicist he has in recent years illuminated, above all, the significance of strategic communications for politics and civil society. In the series “Communal Academy Texts” (Friedrich Ebert Foundation) the book “Strategic Public Relations Work in Communal Politics” (»Strategische Öffentlichkeitsarbeit für die Kommunalpolitik«) is on the market; he has also cooperated as co-author and editor for other titles in the series. Additionally, he has published original works in Germany and Scandinavia, and other works by previously unknown authors. He is currently working on a practice manual for coaches and therapists on the subject of practical existential counselling, together with Helmut Dorra (Academy for Existential Analysis and Logotherapy, Director of the Hamburg Institute). The series “Edition: Society and Responsibility” (»Edition Gesellschaft und Verantwortung«) is slated for release in coming months.
