Young women and men who hold leadership positions in civil society and/or (local) politics in Romania learn in train-the-trainer workshops lasting several days how they can increase the acceptance of democracy in their region as multipliers.
The project focuses on the long term; this year’s workshop builds on the annual trainings.
»The ongoing political crisis at the top of Romanian politics is more and more reflected at the lower levels of party organisations in the form of immobility, short-sightedness and political fatigue. The phenomenon poses a dangerous challenge to youth organisations in particular, as junior politicians increasingly struggle to define their own identity and to understand and live their role as the future leaders of politics.«
Tasks: Conception and implementation of the workshops in Romania.
The Romania Office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) was established in 1994 to promote democracy, the rule of law and social justice and to accompany Romania’s integration in to the European Union. FES Romania works together with a broad network of Romanian partner organizations, providing political education and policy advice through trainings, conferences, analyses and research. Moreover, it supports the dialogue between Romanian stakeholders and experts from Germany and other European countries to exchange best practices and address common challenges.

I know we are on the right path, to tell you the truth, I feel like a gold prospector who’s found a gold vein deep into the mountain. This is of course, also René’s merit, and I’m very glad that he could come to Romania despite the snow storm in Germany and the very tight schedule.« Cristian Chiscop, FES Romania
